Thesis Review no1! I got up at 5:30 this morning, started my online teaching job early. My friend is doing her PHD defend in Groningen. I\u2019m gutted I can\u2019t attend. She flew all the way from South Africa and battled inter-continental Corona bureaucracy to make it to the Netherlands. And then my class schedule gets filled up with this important presentation. I did manage to watch the whole defence online! She did great. So inspiring.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s also the day the Netherlands imposes a travel ban on South Africa. I\u2019m supposed to travel home in two weeks for my birthday. I haven\u2019t seen my family for two years. I learn I may not be able to go.
